THE INTERNET… What is it?
When one thinks of the internet they’re often drawn to the idea of social media, various articles, and a place where we go to watch funny cat videos. But what really is the internet and where does it come from? While reading multiple articles, I’ve gathered some insight into the yearning answer to this puzzling question.
Here’s what I found:
The Internet is a place that can influence, give people the space to dive into their deepest desires, and can also shape our reality of things. For example, many people use social media. One of the main reasons why there are so many people on these apps 24 hours a day is that it stimulates the constant need to see, learn, and talk about new things. It’s where and how we find out what’s trendy, how we should interact with one another, and how we should or want to express ourselves. The internet gives us the freedom to explore with no one being able to hinder that ability. The Internet is full of information that is constantly adding to the wild-like and creative environment that it is. While this being said, it’s important to look at the negative impacts of the internet like the events that occur to Michael Campbell in the story, “Online Drug Store A New World.”
What do I love about the Internet? What scares me?
The internet is always updating and it fulfills my curious needs by giving me the certainty that it will always be there when I need it. I don’t the internet is just information, it’s also a place to communicate and give people platforms to connect with others who are close or halfway across the world. The Internet, is my favorite thing.
